What to do right now
Stay away from any downed wires and assume they are live; call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235 for lines down. Keep people and pets clear of hanging limbs and cracked trunks. Do not try to cut a tree that is under tension or resting on a structure. Take photos from a safe distance for your insurer. Then call us at (705) 890-4602. We will tell you what to expect and when we can be there.
How emergency response works
Our first priority is to make the site safe: remove the immediate hazard, get the tree off the structure or vehicle, and open your access. Storm-damaged trees are unpredictable, with trunks under tension and hidden cracks, so we use the bucket truck and rigging rather than working under the load. Once the danger is handled we return, often the same day, to finish the removal, chip the brush and clean the site.
Insurance claims
Most home insurance policies cover removal of a tree that has damaged an insured structure, and some cover debris removal up to a limit. We photograph the damage, provide a written estimate and invoice that itemises the work, and can speak with your adjuster directly. Keep your policy number handy when you call.
