Selective clearing
Clearing does not have to mean scraping the lot. On most rural properties the best outcome keeps the mature trees that give the place its character and removes the ones in the way, the ones that are dying and the invasive undergrowth. We walk the lot with you, flag what stays, and clear around it carefully.
Rules to know before you clear
Simcoe County's Forest Conservation By-law applies to woodlots of 1 hectare or more, and Dufferin, Peel and York have similar by-laws. Properties on the Oak Ridges Moraine, the Niagara Escarpment or near wetlands and watercourses may need conservation authority sign-off (NVCA or TRCA in our area). Nesting season, roughly April to August, restricts large-scale clearing under federal migratory bird rules. We will tell you what applies and help you sequence the work so nothing holds up your build.
Equipment and cleanup
We match the equipment to the job: chainsaw crews and the chipper for selective work, the bucket truck for tall trees near structures, and an excavator for stumps and grading. Brush is chipped on site and can be spread as mulch or hauled. Logs can be left for firewood or milling, or removed. The lot is left clean and, if you like, rough graded.
