When a tree should come down
Not every problem tree needs to be removed, and we will tell you when trimming or cabling is the better answer. Removal is usually the right call when a tree is dead or mostly dead, has a split trunk or major cracks, is leaning toward a structure after storm damage, has root or trunk decay, is lifting a foundation or driveway, or is simply in the way of a build, pool or addition.
Signs to watch for: mushrooms at the base, bark peeling in sheets, large dead limbs in the crown, sudden lean, or a tree that never leafed out this spring.
How we remove a tree safely
Every removal starts with a plan. We look at the tree's lean, weight distribution, decay, and what is underneath it: roofs, fences, hydro lines, gardens, septic beds. Then we choose the method. Open yards allow a controlled fell. Around structures we climb or use the bucket truck and take the tree down in sections, lowering each piece on ropes so nothing lands where it shouldn't.
The crew works with two-way communication, a clear drop zone and a spotter at all times. When we are done, brush is chipped, wood is hauled or bucked to length, and the site is raked.
